How empty the church was after the split
I was there in 1988 and I remember how empty the church was after the split. From a large supposedly vibrant congregation to a few people in the pews. It took a while for the congregation to grow again… but it was very cohesive, considering we had undergone such a chasm. The people who had stayed were determined to “grow the church” and were a very dedicated group of people. It seemed to take a long time to increase the Sunday School and Youth Group, but when that was accomplished they were stronger than ever.
