On the sub-committee
I was there in 1988 and I remember that there were only three of us on the sub-committee of the Church Board who studied the issue to present it to the Board with our recommendation. I remember that we never did present it to the Board, but one evening we presented our study and recommendation to an open congregational meeting attended by less than 40 people. From that meeting we formulated our response to the congregation who accepted our recommendation and moved ahead to accept General Council’s decision. We lost 14 families! All of which subsequently returned.
